Welcombe to Southole Barns
Owners Chris and Lydia Underwood, Maisy and Rufus, welcome you to come and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this fabulous part of the Devon/Cornish coastline.
Tucked away on the coastline in north-west of Devon and close to the border of Cornwall, Southole Barns is a haven of peace and tranquility. Nestling in a secluded south facing valley in a designated Coastal Preservation Area, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Nature Conservancy Zone, the Barns enjoy amazing views amidst the timeless beauty of the North Devon countryside & coastline.
With the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep Southole Barns is an ideal retreat for nature lovers and walkers. To the south the path leads down to unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach, to the north the drama of the Hartland Peninsula unfolds before you... Here, high open moorland and ancient woodland give way to breathtaking seascapes, rugged coastline and coastal waterfalls tumbling from hanging valleys onto rocky shores.
The landscape and coastline are simply spectacular and at night, it is truly dark with the stars shining with an unfamiliar brilliance and if you're lucky you'll also see the Milky Way...
A place like no other...
The Barns
Southole Barns were built over 150 years ago by Hartland monks and recently painstakingly & beautifully refurbished to form a courtyard of high quality, tastefully appointed and comfortable self-catering barn conversions. The courtyard is a magnificent cobbled and paved centre piece, filled with flower beds and borders and a luxurious hot tub.
The property stands within 2 acres of gardens and adjoining meadowland with a beautiful stream-fed pond attracting amazing wildlife. The courtyard garden with alfresco dining area is the ideal place to unwind to the sounds & sights of nature and watch the sun set, or find your own favourite place to relax.
No availability in busy periods in our smaller Clovelly and Week St Mary Barns? We have recently joined holidaycottages.com as a partner letting agent and we are limited as to how many bookings we can accept directly. This may mean that our beautiful barns ARE still available but must be booked through them-please have a look at their website and our barns which they have named Hartland Cove and Hartland Courtyard and book through them.
This hideaway stands out as a sanctuary surrounded by unspoilt wilderness.
An oasis of peace and tranquility...
