If you can tear yourselves away from the comforts of the Barns, a wide variety of nearby attractions invite exploration. Supremely unspoilt with a wide variety of scenery, ranging from tiny isolated coves to wide sandy beaches, rolling pasture and picturesque villages...

The Barns are a short distance from many places of interest, beautiful beaches and waterfalls, wonderful walks, towns and villages brimming with history ...a real escape to the great outdoors!

We live on site and are always happy to help you find the best places to visit but here are a few honourable mentions to get you thinking! 

​

The Coast-stunning scenery is on your doorstep with the South Wets Coast Path-follow it towards Cornwall and you have Welcombe Mouth Beach just over a mile away and beyond that Marsland, Duckpool, Sandymouth, Northcott and the Bude beaches as far as Widemouth. These are just some of the beaches on offer-some with sand, some with lifeguards, some with rockpools. Head up the coast and our highlights are the fishing villages of Clovelly and Appledore. There are always watersports to be enjoyed as well as a dip or some wildlife watching and you can take a trip to Lundy Island too.

The fishing villages of Padstow, Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Issac are all within an hour and a half drive.

The National Trust houses of Arlington, Buckland Abbey, Cothele, Castle Drogo, Llanhydrock and Knightshayes are popular as well as Tintagel and Hartland Abbey for history buffs.

Green fingered guests will enjoy RHS Rosemoor and Docton Mill Gardens and Tearoom.

If you fancy heading to one of the larger towns or cities Plymouth with the National Aquarium, Plymouth Gin Distillery, Mayflower Museum, Barbican and Royal William Yard has lots to offer. Tavistock is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a beautiful town with the old abbey walls, pannier market and Butchers Hall and lots of independent shops and eateries is one of our favourites and is a scenic drive over areas of Dartmoor-spot the ponies! Exeter the university and cathedral city is also a place to while away a day exploring.

Sporty types can enjoy golf at Royal North Devon-the oldest club in the country and the links course at Bude. There are riding and trekking stables on the moors as well as in Bude, Bude Tennis, crazy gold and bowls, numerous surf schools, kayaking, canoeing, great running routes as well as Park Run at Tamar Lakes, fishing, cycling along the Tarka Trail and much much more.
