With the South West Coastal Path on your doorstep Southole Barns is an ideal retreat for nature lovers and walkers with pets welcome in both Clovelly and Smudgers Barns (see individual barns for details). To the south the path leads down to unspoilt Welcombe Mouth Beach, to the north the drama of the Hartland Peninsula unfolds before you... Here, high open moorland and ancient woodland give way to breathtaking seascapes, rugged coastline and coastal waterfalls tumbling from hanging valleys onto rocky shores. Yet, hop in the car and 25 minutes away are historic fishing villages, beach resorts and lots of entertainment for all the family including fantastic pubs (5 minute's drive away), restaurants and days out. The Eden Project and Plymouth are an hour and 15 away for days out, and boat trips to Lundy are a must. Padstow, Port Issac and Clovelly are all well under an hour away and theme parks such as The Big Sheep and Milky Way are less than half an hour away to keep the children happy too. Plenty to do, and plenty to not do if peace and relaxation are the order of the day.

The landscape and coastline are simply spectacular and at night, it is truly dark with the stars shining with an unfamiliar brilliance and if you're lucky you'll also see the Milky Way...

A place like no other...

The Barns

Southole Barns were built over 150 years ago by Hartland monks and recently painstakingly & beautifully refurbished to form a courtyard of high quality, tastefully appointed and comfortable self-catering barn conversions. The courtyard is a magnificent cobbled and paved centre piece, filled with flower beds and borders and a luxurious hot tub.

The property stands within 2 acres of gardens and adjoining meadowland with a beautiful stream-fed pond attracting amazing wildlife. The courtyard garden with alfresco dining area is the ideal place to unwind to the sounds & sights of nature and watch the sun set, or find your own favourite place to relax.

This hideaway stands out as a sanctuary surrounded by unspoilt wilderness.

An oasis of peace and tranquility...
