Don't make the mistake of thinking that Devon is only a summer holiday destination; it offers something all year round for our visitors. At this time of year it's a true getaway, a retreat from crowds, city life, work and worries. The beaches are still and quiet except for the waves which can be elemental, and you'll often have them to yourself. You can sit and gaze at the awesome Atlantic, find the lesser known waterfalls, stepping stones and streams, try some winter wild swimming, and watch the wildlife as it also enjoys the peace and quiet-it's a great time to spot seabirds and seals from the shore. If you want to cover some of the South West Coast Path you can do so without having to exchange hellos and compare boots and rucksacks very often, and the path is largely free of cows during the winter as they are all huddled in their barns! You can reach the path in about 30 seconds from your door if you're staying with us-not much of a commute!
We're also lucky enough to be in a part of the South West which doesn't close for the winter. The local shops and farm shops in Bude and Bideford are all open as normal - with the possible exception of ice-cream huts naturally! Our local pubs are still open for locals and visitors with lovely food, local beer and cider and even the odd quiz which you will be welcomed in for. Even tourist attractions like The Big Sheep, Milky Way and Clovelly are open for business and you won't have to queue.
Best of all we offer 2 night breaks all winter so you can get away for as little as £143 - perfect if you're in Bristol for example and want a winter bolthole (we also still offer our standard 10% discount for returning guests on any length of stay so you can join our lovely bunch of regular guests and make us your home from home), and our weekly rates start at just £300. You can bring your dog or choose a cosy wood burner, a spacious super king bed or our larger two bedroom barns and come away with a friend or two, or just take yourself away for some peace and quiet on your own. Either way you'll have a warm welcome and the beauty of Hartland's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on your doorstep.
We look forward to seeing you this winter and beyond.
